Are You Prepared for the End of Windows 7?

Windows 7 support will end on January 14, 2020. If you continue to use Windows 7 after support has ended, your PC will still work, but it will become more vulnerable to security risks and viruses because you will no longer receive software updates, including security updates. Microsoft strongly recommends that you move to a new PC running Windows 10 before January 2020.

Windows 7 is working just fine.

We agree!  Windows 7 was a great operating system.  But unsupported software cannot protect you against expensive and disruptive data breaches. Moving to Windows 10 enables your organization to benefit from a major boost in security that starts at the operating system.

Can I upgrade my existing PC to Windows 10?

To take advantage of the latest hardware capabilities, we recommend moving to a new PC with Windows 10. We recommend that you don’t install Windows 10 on an older device, as some Windows 7 devices are not compatible with Windows 10 or could experience reduced feature availability.

Will I still be HIPAA compliant if I stay on Windows 7?

The HIPAA Security Rule requires that all Covered Entities or Business Associates use software that is supported by the vendor. If the software is no longer supported, it is not HIPAA compliant. Health care professionals run the risk of creating major compatibility issues, delays in scheduling software, data loss, and costly data breaches resulting from security vulnerabilities.

This is too quick, there is no way I can get upgraded by January 14th.

Microsoft understands that everyone is at a different point in the upgrade process. Businesses of any size with Windows 7 Professional or Windows 7 Enterprise can purchase Windows 7 Extended Security Updates (ESUs) through Vertical Solutions. They are sold on a per-device basis and are available for purchase in 12-month increments only.
