Meet a Team Member: Bruce Lane
What is you main responsibility at Vertilocity?
That is a good question and hard to answer. I have worked with clients and their automated accounting systems for more than 20 years. I learned early in my career that everyone in a service organization is responsible to respond to clients’ and our fellow team members’ needs in an appropriate and professional manner. That sounds very general but still something that I try to keep in mind every day. Specifically my responsibility is to develop opportunities and engage clients. This is requires me to find a fit between what the client or prospect needs and what Vertilocity has to offer. Therefore I must obtain of good understanding of the two. That is not so easy in today’s rapidly changing environment. Clients’ needs and our capabilities are changing nearly every day.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The dynamics of my responsibilities. As I stated earlier the needs of the industries that we serve and the capabilities that Vertilocity can provide are rapidly changing and evolving. Not that change is always embraced by me or others, it is still energizing to be able solve problems that are new along with new solutions.
What is the latest technology related article you have read?
The latest I have read was on the use of Microsoft’s SkyDrive. I just started to experiment with the tool which is an embedded tile on the Windows 8 Start Window. It is a new twist on existing capabilities to synchronize, store and collaborate all in a single cloud workspace.
What is your favorite activity to do in your free time?
I do not have a single activity that I can classify as my favorite, but among my favorites are bicycling, landscape activities at my home, and working on my fledgling vineyard. Maybe someday wine making will be one of my favorite activities.
