Meet a Team Member: Chris Bowman
What is your favorite movie genre and why?
My favorite movie genre is Science Fiction. I’ve always loved the way that Sci-Fi creates the opportunity to side step the confines of “this is reality” to show people from a different perspective. Also I love the special effects, explosions, and the many differing visions of the future that Sci-Fi brings!
Do you have any hobbies?
I’m heavily involved in multimedia production through my church. I started mixing sound when I was 12. I also produce a weekly TV broadcast of my church’s services for the Moon Access Channel and helped film and edit a children’s television program that ran for 2 years.
I’ve always wanted to make a full length feature, but it’s a real challenge! It is a major undertaking to get enough people with the necessary skills and tallents on board, then a lot more work to make it fit into their schedules! Most people don’t realize this, but for even a simple film to be done right every minute of finished product requires 10 to 20 hours of work!
What was your favorite TV show growing up?
Star Trek. Every one of the series (there have been 5 series and 11 movies so far). I was also a big fan of Reading Rainbow, Square One, Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?, and Bill Nye the Science Guy.
If you could splurge on one must-have item, what would it be?
I’d love to get a Red Epic camera and a set of lenses! I may need to get a little more filmmaking experience and decide on a story to for my movie before I can justify it, though.
