Video Friday: Help us to help local foster children

EVERY DAY, 1,200 KIDS ENTER FOSTER CARE IN THE UNITED STATES.
Imagine that you are a 5 year old, being told by a Police Officer and a Social Worker that you have to leave with them. Your parents are in another room yelling and crying. They quickly gather some of your things into a trash bag and take you from your home. When you are taken to your foster home you are surrounded by new things, new smells, and new people. You have to unpack your belongings from a trash bag.

NO CHILD DESERVES A TRASH BAG.
Now imagine that you are a 12 year old who is taken from your home. You have nothing of your own, not even your clothes. You had to put on different clothes because your mother was running an active meth lab in your home and your stuff is contaminated. When you get to your foster home you don’t even have a trash bag to unpack.

WE CAN DO BETTER.
Children’s Division workers do all that they can to help these children but they have so many kids and not a lot of funds. Vertilocity, is working with Together We Rise to raise money so we can provide “sweet cases” to give to children coming into care. These duffel bags will be decorated with fun designs and encouragement, filled with pillow pet/stuffed animal, coloring books/crayons, blanket, and hygiene kit that will belong to them and go with them throughout their journey.

We are looking to raise at least $2,500, and Vertilocity has offered to match that dollar amount, as they so generously have in years past. This amount will allow us to be able to provide 200 “sweet cases” to our local Children’s Division. Would you emotionally support a child by sponsoring a bag?

Individuals/ churches/ schools can sponsor bags at $20 a bag and corporations/ businesses/ foundations can sponsor a bag at $25 a bag.

These children deserve to know their emotional needs are just as important as their physical needs. We can show them they are special and cared for by putting these bags in their hands! Let’s show them they deserve more than a trash bag to carry their most precious belongings!
